Three days from Tweed Heads to Crescent

Old wagon with surfboards on the roof parked behind sand dunes at sunset

We left Tweed at 4:10am with four boards, two swags and a forecast that had already been wrong twice that week. This is not a travel guide. There are enough of those.

The first morning was a waist-high runner nobody else wanted, which is usually the best kind. Two hours, no crowd, and the sort of session you forget within a week and remember for years.

By day two the swell had filled in and every headland had a carpark full of Hilux utes. We drove past all of them and found a bank that a local told us about on the condition we never name it. So we won't.

The unglamorous part: sleeping in a car with damp wetsuits is genuinely awful, servo coffee is a personality flaw, and four boards in a wagon means one gets stood on. That last one is how the first SurfBros rack got built.

Home Thursday night. Boards racked, wetsuits hung, alarm set for the next one.
